The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting degree plan is a technical degree designed for students that plan to enter the workforce upon completion of the degree.

Associate Degree and Certificate Options
The Accounting program provides students with one associate degree and one certificate option. Depending on the path our majors choose, they can expect their degree plan to include courses in the following areas:
- Introductory and Advanced General and Managerial Accounting
- Basic Business and Human Resource
- Payroll Tax Accounting
- Computerized Accounting
- Introductory Finance
Associate of Applied Science
This is a two-year associate's degree that consists of 60 semester hours. Students will take a range of technology courses from several disciplines as well as general education courses that will provide the necessary skills to thrive in a competitive business environment. Students completing the associate's degree will complete the certificate concurrently.
Students that earn the AAS Degree in Accounting will be qualified to pursue a career in a variety of areas including: advanced bookkeeper, audit clerk, accounts payable or receivable administrator, and tax preparer.
Accounting Certificate of Proficiency
The Accounting Certificate of Proficiency is a TSI-waived certificate. Students declaring this major are not subject to the TSI regulations unless they enroll in a course outside the prescribed curriculum. Students who complete the Accounting Certificate of Proficiency have a foundation in accounting that prepares them for entry level positions in payroll or bookkeeping and they may also choose to continue their education to pursue the AAS in Accounting degree.

The Business Administration department strives to thoroughly prepare to students to successfully enter the work force by establishing a solid foundation. Part of that solid foundation is preparing students to take and pass industry certification exams. These industry certifications help to verify the skills each student has learned while at SPC. While at SPC, students will have the opportunity to earn certifications in the following areas:
Intuit Quickbooks:
- QuickBooks is a industry favored accounting software program that can be used for almost all financial business processes including entering receipts, tracking expenses, invoicing, payment tracking, tax tracking, purchase orders, payroll, and financial reporting.
Scholarships are available for students enrolling in many of our majors. A list of scholarships is below. To apply, students must submit a scholarship application by the March 1 deadline. Applicants must indicate their intended major area of study on the scholarship application in order to be considered for these scholarships. Some programs require applicants to submit ACT or SAT scores with the application as required for college-wide scholarships. Applications are screened by a departmental scholarship committee. All scholarship awards are subject to availability of funds.
