Associate of Arts in Teaching
With the increasing demand for student success in the classroom, the need is greater than ever for highly qualified and well-educated pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teachers. The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree program at South Plains College offers course work for the first two years of study in preparation for a teaching career. The award-winning AAT program, approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, consists of lower division courses intended to seamlessly transfer to a Texas Teacher Certification program in any university.
The AAT program has entered into articulation agreements with Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland University, and has developed education-specific transfer guides for these, as well as West Texas A & M University and Texas Women’s University. SPC advisors will work with AAT students to select and complete the classes needed to fulfill the AAT degree requirements as well as university-recommended courses for the various content and grade-level certifications. SPC offers personalized attention to students before and during the transfer process to these, or any, university in order to ensure success.
